Extension of the conference centre: sustainable and green materials

Extension of the conference centre sustainable and green materials The extension of the conference centre was built with a strong commitment to sustainable development. The project has modernized the infrastructure while reducing the ecological footprint through the use of environmentally-friendly materials and energy-efficient solutions. Ecological and sustainable materials The walls are made of recycled wood panels, providing optimum thermal insulation. The solid, hard-wearing strip parquet flooring and certified chipboard guarantee a sustainable construction. The ceilings are made from 100% recycled rPET fibre, underlining the project’s commitment to the environment. Energy optimisation and resource management LED lighting, combined with motion detectors and light intensity management, significantly reduces energy consumption. This approach, combined with strict site waste management, contributes to a building that is both ecological and resource-efficient. This project combines modernity, respect for the environment and optimization of energy costs.

New intelligent lighting system in the halls

energy optimization New intelligent lighting system in the halls Because a responsible event starts with a venue that is committed to sustainable development, Palexpo is choosing sustainability in the modernisation and transformation of its buildings and skills. Since 2023, the 580 old luminaires in Palexpo’s halls 4 and 5 have been replaced by 380 new LED models with a view to significantly reducing electricity consumption and Palexpo’s energy footprint, while improving the quality of the lighting. The advantages of this new lighting management system include the possibility of creating different scenarios according to the specific needs of each exhibition and/or each period of the day, as well as the implementation of a supervision system enabling each luminaire to be controlled individually.       By choosing this LED system, Palexpo has reduced the average power of its luminaires by 40% and cut electricity consumption in halls 4 and 5 by a factor of three, while offering better quality lighting over a working area of 30,000 square metres. Palexpo’s electricity management teams have also improved their efficiency by centralising all lighting programming, which was previously decentralised and handled individually. The programme used enables management of the infrastructure, i.e. the hall luminaires, and management of the power supply, which varies according to the needs of the events. In another development, thanks to the installation of an extinction board, the luminaires can now be switched off before the time initially set by a security guard, enabling a rapid response in the event of any changes, as well as improving the customer experience and optimising energy use.
