| The 76th Geneva International Motor Show welcomed some 674’000 visitors through its doors, despite being affected by unfavourable weather conditions lasting for the entire duration of the event, particularly on the first Sunday of opening. However this did not prevent exhibitors from being optimistic, due to the excellent links forged with their customers, the interest shown by the general public and the high quality organisation of the event provided by GENEVA PALEXPO.The dates for the next 2007 edition have been fixed for the 8th-18th March. |

Visitor numbers
The organisers were aiming for a budgeted objective of some 700'000 visitors. This figure was very nearly achieved, despite the appalling weather conditions and heavy snowfall which considerably disrupted traffic in Switzerland and neighbouring countries. On the first Sunday for example, only 13% of visitors came from Switzerland’s German-speaking region, compared to nearly 30% in previous years.
The electronic ticketing system, introduced in 2005 and improved upon this year, confirms the reliability of these figures. A detailed analysis of visitors and their origins will be published before the end of March.
Business
According to a research study conducted by the Exhibitors Commission across all the stands, exhibitors affirm their satisfaction with the business results achieved during the show and are confident about the future.
Press Coverage
Once again, press coverage throughout the world was exceptional, with more than 5’000 journalists attending from some 80 countries, with a notable increase in presence of representatives from the Chinese media.
More than 70 world and European premières were presented by manufacturers, who placed particular emphasis on new developments and their research into alternative energy sources.
Special Attractions
The special exhibition dedicated to the centenary of the Automobile Revue met with great success, thanks to the presentation of some truly remarkable vehicles in an exceptional setting.
